Few years ago, almost each family owned a camera (compact, medium format cameras) in order to take photos of family moments, landscapes or significant moments. All this, till the mobile phone appeared, equipped with a camera and a mini computer at the same time. Cameras on mobiles were at first of low resolution such as 2 or 6mpx growing fast to 22mpx! Meanwhile DSLR or pocket cameras developed fast enough to offer a resolution of 200mpx! Nowadays, mobile phones have become the most necessary accessory one can have. One the other hand, photography lovers keep on seeking the pleasures that only cameras can offer like creating the ideal frame, composition and colour. That is why the most important part when choosing between cameras or mobiles is what exactly are you planning on photographing. A lot of people ask me what camera to buy, which lens or ask my opinion on pictures taken from mobile phones. The answer in simple. Are you satisfied by the gear you’ve chosen or willing to choose? Does it meet your photographic expectations? Only then one can choose the appropriate kind of camera or mobile phone which will become the connector between the creator and the viewer. Family moments are usually captured satisfactorily enough through a mobile phone when a composition of a unique theme, a special moment or an artistic creation requires a camera carefully chosen, without excluding the word creation when it comes to mobiles. There are even examples of full movies created through mobile phones. As for me, creation needs that mystic touch in order to connect creativity with the final result regardless of the gear.
